Take care of a natural locality
The restoration of nature and landscape is one of the important European goals also in response to local manifestations of climate change. Volunteerism, involvement of local communities and youth are important tools to ensure the management of sites close to nature. If the volunteer work is also connected with another program (excursion, workshop, lecture), it is an important environmental educational and educational activity connecting theory with practice.
Not only protected areas need protection and care, restoration and care of natural locations that are not protected by law is no less important. Old unmaintained orchards, overgrown steppes and meadows or wells can be found in many places outside protected areas and fulfill or can fulfill many important functions in the landscape. Even activities of a smaller scale – cutting out invasive trees, regular mowing of the meadow or cleaning around the chapel can be of great importance for the diversity of nature and the ecological stability of the place.
If you know of a place in nature that deserves better care, contact the owner of the land and the nature protection authority and agree on the correct care procedure for the given location. You can help nature and the landscape individually or with friends, neighbors or classmates.
